France is having very hot weather right now. This hot weather is a record heatwave across the country. A heatwave means it is very hot for many days, which can cause problems. Because of the heatwave, there are now power outages in some areas. Power outages mean that homes do not have electricity to use. About 68,000 homes in Brittany were affected by these outages. Brittany is a region in France that is experiencing the extreme heat. Many people in Brittany suddenly lost their electricity supply. The electricity might not be fully restored very quickly for everyone. It may take until Wednesday night for all affected homes to get power back.

These drowning deaths are related to the heatwave. The deaths happened since last Thursday. To drown means to die in water. The Prime Minister of France is Mr. Sรฉbastien Lecornu. He says these numbers are very sad.
